WORK PLAN
Objective 4. Integration of software elements to automate actions.
Actions defined in protocols such as sending e-mail to an individual,
or faxing chart notes to a non member physician to whom a patient is being
referred can be initiated automatically by the Web Server. To do this CGI
or Perl scripts which perform the specified action will have to be created.
Then the definition of any action that will be automated will have to reference
the appropriate script or executable file which the Server can call to
initiate the action.
- E-Mail. Create and send messages with no user intervention. Messaging
to appropriate staff members, providers, payor representatives, or health
managers is an action common to many protocols. Protocols can optionally
be set up to automatically notify managers or insurers whenever a variance
occurs.
- Chart Notes & Lab Results. Pertinent notes and lab results can
be automatically included in E-Mail to a referring physician, faxed, or
printed for mailing, depending on security and access considerations.
- Analysis and Reporting. Setup ways in which variances can be quickly
monitored, authorized, and then analyzed for use in further refinement
of protocols.
- Maintenance of System Security. Adapt system of public and private
keys that protect clinical notes from unauthorized access to all protocol
information.
- Billing Module. Adaptation of ck_Medical for Web Server with all new
patient demographic, visit and billing information sent out to temporary
files in HL-7 format. This will be set up as a sample for other vendors
of billing systems wishing to tightly integrate entry of billing information
with protocol checking.
